San Francisco, CA – The short film “Prinsesa,” inspired by a traditional dance of the Philippines and created entirely by volunteers, has been selected for Frameline 38, the world’s oldest and largest LGBT film event. The screening will take place at the Victoria Theater in San Francisco at 11am on Sunday June 22.
“Prinsesa” is a short film about Rey (Patrick Silvestre), a Filipino-American father who recalls the traditional Philippine folk tale “Singkil” to his children, hoping to calm them after a small earthquake. But his young boy, Jojo (Lucas Javier), seems to identify more with the princess in the myth rather than the prince. This creates an awkward conflict for Rey, who is now having his own masculinity and parenting skills questioned by his pals.
